Manage your QR codes
The Your QR codes screen shows the list of your QR codes across the full width. Clicking a QR code opens its page, where you edit, archive or delete it. The “Back to your QR codes” link takes you back to the list with the same search, the same filters, the same sorting and the same page.
Depending on your permissions, the list contains either the QR codes you created, or all the QR codes of the account (see the question “Do I see all the account's QR codes?” below).
What the list shows
By default, the list only shows active QR codes. To see the others, use the Status filter: Active, Archived or All.
For each QR code, the list shows:
- QR code: its type and its label. The type is one of the following seven: Web, Email, Phone, SMS, FTP, Calendar, Business card;
- Status (see below);
- Scans: the total number of scans since creation;
- Created on;
- Created by: only if you have the “Manager of the account's QR codes” or “Manager of QR codes created via the API” permission, and if the QR codes you see have at least two different creators. A QR code created by an API key shows “API · key name”;
- Tags: on the Pro and Entreprise plans (see Organise your QR codes with tags).
On the Free plan, a counter “n / 3 active QR codes” appears above the list. At 3 out of 3, it becomes “3 / 3 active QR codes — limit reached”, with an Upgrade to Pro link.
The three statuses of a QR code
| Status | What the person scanning sees | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Active | Your destination, your contact card or your event | Normal operation |
| Archived | A page-not-found error | You archived this QR code |
| Paused | A QR Suisse information page, without your destination or your business card data | Your account is limited to the Free plan and this QR code exceeds the quota of 3 active QR codes |
The Paused status is not an action on your part. It only appears when the account is limited to the Free plan, that is, after the 14-day grace period that follows the end of a Pro or Entreprise subscription. During these 14 days of grace period, the QR codes over quota still show as Active in the list, but the person scanning goes through an intermediate page before reaching your destination. See Understand your account status.
Find a QR code
- Search: enter a word from the label, the destination or the address of the QR code. If the search only finds archived QR codes, a message offers you “Show archived”.
- Filters: Type, Created by (depending on your permissions) and Tags (Pro and Entreprise). Active filters appear as chips after “Filters:”; “Clear filters” removes them all. On mobile, the filters are grouped in a Filters panel.
- Sort: click the QR code column header (label, A → Z or Z → A), Scans (number of scans) or Created on (creation date); a second click reverses the order. On mobile, use Sort by in the Filters panel.
- Pages: the list shows 50 QR codes per page, with the Previous and Next buttons.
A QR code's page
A QR code's page shows:
- its status and its total number of scans;
- a “Scans for the …” chart: the last 15 months on the Pro and Entreprise plans, the last 7 days on the Free plan (see Understand your statistics);
- the QR code image, with Download as PNG and Download as SVG;
- the Tags section, with the “Edit tags” button (Pro and Entreprise);
- the edit form and the action buttons.
If the QR code is Paused, the page says so: “This QR code displays an information page instead of its destination.”, with the Reactivate my subscription link, or the option to archive another QR code to bring it back into service.
Edit a QR code
On the QR code's page, the form is the same as at creation (see Create a QR code). The QR code type (Link, Business card or Calendar) can no longer be changed. In a Link QR code, the link type (Web, Email, Phone, SMS, FTP) can still be changed. Edit the fields you want, then click Save.
The change takes effect immediately, without changing the address encoded in the image: your already printed materials lead to the new destination straight away.
Archive and reactivate a QR code
The Archive button (or Reactivate for an archived QR code) is next to the Save button, on the QR code's page. A confirmation is requested. Archiving a QR code:
- immediately stops its redirection: the person scanning an already printed material gets a page-not-found error, the same as for a deleted QR code;
- deletes nothing: the QR code, its content and its statistics remain intact;
- frees up a slot in the Free plan quota (an archived QR code does not count among the 3 active ones);
- is reversible at any time, with the Reactivate button.
On the Free plan, reactivation is refused if you already have 3 active QR codes: a message tells you so.
On the Pro and Entreprise plans, you can also archive or reactivate up to 100 QR codes at once from the list. See Bulk actions and exports.
Permanently delete a QR code
The Delete permanently button, next to Archive, is a different and irreversible action:
- the QR code, its scan counter and its content are deleted;
- its address (
…/r/xxxxxxxxxx) can never be reused; - the person scanning an already printed material immediately gets a page-not-found error.
An explicit confirmation reminds you that this is final. After deletion, you return to the Dashboard. If in doubt, choose archiving instead: it has the same effect on the redirection, but remains reversible.
Features reserved for the Pro and Entreprise plans
On the Free plan, the list shows: “Multiple selection, tags, ZIP download and CSV export: available with Pro and Entreprise.” These features are described in Bulk actions and exports and Organise your QR codes with tags.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between archiving and deleting?
Archiving stops the redirection but keeps everything: content, statistics and the option to reactivate. Deleting permanently erases the QR code, and its address can never be used again. In both cases, the person scanning gets a page-not-found error. If in doubt, archive.
Why does a QR code show “Paused” when I haven't archived it?
Your account no longer has a Pro or Entreprise subscription, the 14-day grace period is over, and this QR code exceeds the Free plan quota of 3 active QR codes. To bring it back into service, reactivate your subscription or archive other QR codes. See Understand your account status.
Why can't I see my archived QR codes?
The list only shows active QR codes by default. Choose Archived or All in the Status filter.
Can I reactivate an archived QR code if I already have 3 active QR codes on the Free plan?
No. First archive another QR code, or switch to the Pro or Entreprise plan.
Do I see all the account's QR codes?
It depends on your permissions:
- Manager of the account's QR codes (or Administrator): all the QR codes of the account, including those created via the API;
- Manager of QR codes created via the API: the QR codes created by an API key;
- Manager of my QR codes: only those you created yourself, never those created via the API.
Does an already printed material still work if I change the destination?
Yes, without reprinting: the address encoded in the QR code does not change, only the redirection does. If you use a custom domain, also read Use your own domain.
