Practical situations

  1. Waste centre opening hours. The poster at the entrance of the waste centre and the collection calendar carry a QR code that leads to the opening hours page. Winter hours, public holiday, exceptional closure: you update the page or the destination, and the poster stays in place.

  2. The notice board and roadworks. Next to a posted notice, a QR code leads to the page on your website with the file and useful information. On a roadworks sign, it leads to the project page, updated at each stage. The QR code complements the official notice: it does not replace it.

  3. Registrations and information sessions. A flyer sent to every household points to the registration form in your own tool (courses, hall rental, event). For an information session, a Calendar QR code offers to add the date to the calendar. QR Suisse does not see what residents enter in your forms.

  4. Several departments, one account. The Free plan covers 3 active QR codes and 1 user. With Pro, the residents' office, public works and general administration each have their own access: one employee can manage only the QR codes they created, another those of the whole municipality. QR codes are organised by department with tags, and the municipality can use its own subdomain, for example qr.your-municipality.ch.

What QR Suisse does, and what it doesn't

Does

  • redirects each QR code to the page of your choice, editable at any time;
  • offers to call the front desk (QR Phone), opens an email already addressed (QR Email) or offers to add a session to the calendar (QR Calendar);
  • provides the image as SVG for the printer and as PNG for the website or screens;
  • keeps, for each QR code, a total count and a number of scans per day; neither the device, nor the country, nor the IP address of the person scanning is stored in the database;
  • with Pro and Entreprise: access for each employee with their own rights, tags by department, ZIP download, CSV export and the municipality's subdomain.

Doesn't

  • store residents' forms or requests: they stay in your own tools;
  • publish any notice or replace an official publication;
  • create QR-bills (see question 6);
  • set rights department by department: an employee sees either their own QR codes or the whole account's;
  • accept more than one custom domain per account;
  • offer payment by invoice (see question 5);
  • create anything other than black-on-white QR codes, with no colour and no logo.

Frequently asked questions

What data is recorded when a resident scans a QR code?
For each QR code, QR Suisse keeps a total count and a number of scans per day; neither the device, nor the country, nor the IP address of the person scanning is stored in the database. If the municipality uses its own subdomain, the gateway that serves it also keeps technical logs, which may contain the IP address of some requests; they are used solely to operate and secure the service. Our privacy policy describes precisely which data we process and which we do not.
Can several departments share one account?
Yes, with the Pro and Entreprise plans. Each employee receives an email invitation and the rights you give them: manage their own QR codes or the whole account's, view statistics, manage users or the subscription. Rights cannot be set per department: to keep two departments apart, give their employees the right to manage only their own QR codes, and organise the QR codes with tags.
Can the municipality's address be used in the QR codes?

Yes, with the Pro and Entreprise plans: a subdomain of a domain name the municipality controls, for example qr.your-municipality.ch, set up once with two DNS records. Two points to know before printing:

  • the name of this subdomain is permanently recorded in public certificate logs (Certificate Transparency) that anyone can consult;
  • QR codes printed with this domain only work with an active Pro or Entreprise subscription, with no grace period: read the help page before printing.
Will a QR code on display still work in several years?
As long as the municipality's QR Suisse account stays active and the service is available, yes: you can change its destination at any time without reprinting the poster. For a QR code printed with the municipality's domain, see question 3.
Can a municipality open an account and pay for a paid plan?
Yes. Our Terms and Conditions provide for professional use, including by a public body: when signing up, choose the company account, which is the account intended for organisations. The person who creates the account and takes out the subscription must be authorised to bind the municipality (Terms and Conditions, §4.2). The Free plan requires no payment. The Pro and Entreprise plans are paid online only, on the payment page of our provider Stripe; payment by invoice is not offered.
Can I create QR-bills with QR Suisse?
No. QR Suisse is a general-purpose dynamic QR code generator. It does not create QR-bills, the Swiss standard for paying invoices. For a QR-bill, use your bank or your accounting software.
Does QR Suisse store the forms filled in by residents?
No. The QR code leads to the form in your own tool (municipal website, online services). QR Suisse keeps the QR code's destination and its scan statistics, not what residents enter.
