Practical situations

  1. The table stand in the hotel room. Breakfast, spa, check-out time, useful numbers: the stand carries a QR code that leads to the information page on your website. When the times change, you update the page or the QR code's destination, and the stands stay in the rooms.

  2. Summer, then winter. The pool closes, the sauna opens, the tourist office moves from hiking trails to ski slopes. Between seasons, you redirect the QR codes to the winter pages. The change takes effect as soon as you save it: you make it by hand, at the moment you choose.

  3. Guests who speak several languages. On the same item, one QR code per language leads to the version of the page in that language, with its own scans. Another option: a single QR code to a page on your website that offers a choice of language.

What QR Suisse does, and what it doesn't

Does

  • redirects each QR code to the page of your choice, editable at any time;
  • offers to call reception (QR Phone), to add an event to the calendar (QR Calendar) or to save your contact on the phone (QR Business card);
  • optionally adds UTM parameters, so that your website's analytics tool recognises visits coming from the table stands;
  • provides the image as SVG for the printer and as PNG for screens;
  • with Pro and Entreprise: unlimited QR codes, tags, access for each team member with their own rights, 15 months of history and your own subdomain (for example qr.your-hotel.ch) instead of qrsuisse.ch.

Doesn't

  • create Wi-Fi QR codes (see question 1);
  • detect the phone's language: a QR code always leads to the same destination;
  • schedule a change for a given date: you change the destination when you want;
  • handle bookings or payments, or host your menu or brochures;
  • count people: for each QR code, QR Suisse keeps a total count and a number of scans per day; neither the device, nor the country, nor the IP address of the person scanning is stored in the database;
  • create anything other than black-on-white QR codes, with no colour and no logo.

Frequently asked questions

Does QR Suisse offer a Wi-Fi QR code?
No. A Wi-Fi QR code contains the network name and password, which the phone reads directly from the image. It cannot go through a redirect address, so it cannot be dynamic: if the password changes, the QR code has to be reprinted. For your guests' Wi-Fi, use a static QR code generator.
How do I handle several languages?
Two options. Either one QR code per language on the same item, each leading to the page in its language, with its own statistics. Or a single QR code to a page on your website that offers a choice of language. QR Suisse does not detect the language of the phone scanning.
Can I change the information from one season to the next?
Yes. You change the destination from your account, and the table stands already printed immediately lead to the new page. The change applies as soon as you save it; QR Suisse does not schedule it in advance for a given date.
What do the statistics show?
The number of scans of each QR code, in total and day by day: you know whether a table stand is being used, not by whom. Neither the device, nor the country, nor the IP address of the person scanning is stored in the database. Two phones on the same network scanning the same QR code within 5 seconds only count once.
How do I compare summer and winter, or two summer seasons?
The history you can view covers 7 days on the Free plan and 15 months on the Pro and Entreprise plans. With Pro or Entreprise, you can therefore compare one season with the same season the following year.
Can reception and the tourist office manage the QR codes together?
Yes, with the Pro and Entreprise plans. You invite each person by email and give them rights: manage their own QR codes or the whole account's, view statistics, manage users or the subscription. When someone leaves, you can deactivate their access immediately.
Will a table stand's QR code still work in several years?
As long as your QR Suisse account stays active and the service is available, yes. QR codes printed with a custom domain only work with an active Pro or Entreprise subscription, with no grace period: read the help page before printing.
